LawFirst Publishing's "Friendly Divorce Guidebook for Connecticut" Helps to Ease the Stress and Confusion of Divorce Process

NEW BRITAIN, CT (January 16, 2008) LawFirst Publishing, a division of the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA), offers practical, informative publications that help to enhance members’ law practices and also provides the public with educational, easy-to-read publications about the law.

The Friendly Divorce Guidebook for Connecticut is just such a publication. Written by Barbara Kahn Stark, MLA, JD, a Connecticut divorce mediator, this step-by-step guidebook to the divorce process helps to answer any questions a person might have when they are going through a divorce.

Stark outlines the process in thirteen chapters written in plain English that review such topics as finding the right forms, how the divorce process works in the Connecticut legal system, negotiating with soon-to-be ex spouses, figuring out child support, and moving from one household to two. Stark also provides checklists to help keep the process organized, along with tips on how people going through the divorce process should take care of themselves and look out for their own well-being during such a stressful time.

“Anyone going through divorce will love the Friendly Divorce Guidebook for Connecticut,” Attorney Mediator Michael Becker says. “It not only details the Connecticut legal process, but also encourages the divorcing couple to work through their own issues cooperatively. The checklists are great tools for empowering couples to take charge of their own solutions.”

This guidebook is designed to ease the stress that inevitably comes with divorce. Tailored to the needs of the Connecticut resident, the Friendly Divorce Guidebook for Connecticut is the quintessential guide to the divorce process. The book is a useful resource that includes definitions, cautions, Web site resources, court forms and tax forms. It also debunks some common misconceptions about divorce.

The book is $35. For more information about the Friendly Divorce Guidebook for Connecticut, other LawFirst publications or to purchase the book, please visit www.ctbar.org or call the CBAMemberServiceCenter at (860)223-4400.
