Superior Court Judge Carmen L. Lopez, whose reappointment process was controversial, was reappointed by a vote of 106-33 in the House of Representatives and a vote of 28-4 in the Senate. The Judiciary Committee previously endorsed Judge Lopez for reappointment by a vote of 26-11. Judge Lopez' reappointment was controversial amid accusations of abusing her position and not getting along with judicial officials. Judge Lopez' supporters spoke of her dedication to children and the juvenile system and of her being a role model to the Latina community.
