CBA MEMBER ELECTED CHAIRPERSON OF CATIC^®

ROCKY HILL, Conn. (June 24, 2005) - CATIC, New England's largest domestic title insurance underwriter, announces the election of attorney Patricia C. Farrell as chairperson of its board of directors.

A member of the board since 1989, Farrell was unanimously elected as the successor to Francis J. Collins. She has been a member of the board's Executive Committee since 1998 and has served as a member of its Claims Committee. Farrell also plays an active role in CATIC Financial, Inc., CATIC's parent company, serving as a member of the Audit Committee and the Compensation Committee, and as chairperson of the Corporate Governance Committee. She is also a member of the board of the CATIC Foundation, a charitable organization that provides financial support to law-related organizations.

Richard J. Patterson, president of CATIC, noted Farrell's years of service to the organization. "We are excited to have attorney Farrell elected as chairperson of our board. She has been an outstanding contributor to the board since her election in 1989," says Patterson.

Farrell is managing partner in the Middletown, Conn. law firm of Farrell, Guarino & Boccalatte, P.C. She received a B.A. from Smith College and a J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law. Farrell is a member of the Connecticut Bar and admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, for the District of Connecticut. She has also served as a special master in family law and as an attorney trial referee for the Connecticut courts. Farrell is an active member of the Connecticut Bar Association, having served as a member of the board of governors and the House of Delegates, and previously served as the secretary of the Middlesex County Bar Association.
