CIVIL UNIONS FOCUS OF CLE SEMINAR

The Connecticut Bar Association (CBA) is offering a continuing legal education seminar on the topic of civil unions. Entitled “Civil Unions—Making and Breaking Them,” the seminar is scheduled for Friday, September 30, from 9am-5pm at Quinnipiac University School of Law.

The full-day program, sponsored by the CBA’s Family Law Section and the Quinnipiac University School of Law, will feature legal experts who will discuss issues surrounding civil unions, including tax matters, estate planning, children (adoption and surrogacy) and health and employee benefits. Also dissolution issues of alimony, property division and prenuptial agreements will be discussed. Senate Majority Leader Andrew J. McDonald of Stamford is the featured lunchtime speaker.

In addition, a panel of judges will discuss enforcement issues as they pertain to civil unions and the recognition of civil unions from other jurisdictions.
