Mandatory Electronic Registration in 2007
Attorneys are required to register annually with the Statewide Grievance Committee pursuant to Practice Book §2-27(d) and (e). Registration is also required for an attorney to be in good standing, as that term is defined by Practice Book §2-65. The registration process typically occurs between the end of January and the beginning of March.
Note that the Statewide Grievance Committee recently approved Rule 12 of the Statewide Grievance Committee Rules of Procedure. Among other things, Rule 12 requires attorneys to comply with the annual registration requirement by registering electronically through Judicial Branch E-Services. Beginning in 2007 and thereafter, attorneys will no longer be able to register by means of a paper form unless they are exempted from mandatory electronic registration. Attorneys may request an exemption for good cause from electronic registration through form JD-GC-18, which is available from the Statewide Grievance Committee at (860)568-5157 or from the Judicial Branch Web site at www.jud2.ct.gov/webforms/#GRIEVANCE. The exemption request form must be received by the Statewide Grievance Committee no later than November 1, 2006, to be considered for the 2007 registration process. Exempted attorneys will still need to register with the Statewide Grievance Committee, but they will be provided a paper copy of the registration form.
Attorneys who are not exempted from mandatory electronic registration will receive a notice from the Judicial Branch reminding them to register when it is time for the 2007 registration.
Attorneys who are currently enrolled in Judicial Branch E-Services do not need to do anything further at this time. Attorneys who are not currently enrolled in Judicial Branch E-Services are encouraged to do so immediately. The E-Services enrollment form is available at www.efile.jud.ct.gov/enrollform.asp.
If you have any questions on the enrollment process, please contact Court Operations at (860)765-4452, Ext. 303 or by e-mail at
e-enroll@jud.ct.gov. If you have any questions regarding attorney registration, e-mail the Statewide Grievance Committee at
