In commemorating the 800th Anniversary of the Magna Carta, the CBA’s Annual Law Day Ceremony will test the principle that no person stands above the law by holding a mock jury trial in the case of State v. Kim Dixon.  Aided by students from the Region 4 High School in Deep River, who will play the witnesses, and students from Crosby High School in Waterbury, who will serve as the jury, Middlesex State’s Attorney Peter McShane and Public Defender James McKay will try the thought-provoking case of State v. Dixon, in which a 17 year old high school student from a wealthy and prominent family is charged with assaulting a student from low-income family as the culmination of a long campaign of cyberbullying--which school officials had ignored because of the wealth and community standing of the defendant’s family.
