About the Program:
Are you interested in representing victims of domestic violence seeking civil restraining orders?  If so, attend this training session presented by Connecticut Legal Services, Greater Hartford Legal Aid, Robinson & Cole LLP, and the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The program will provide instruction in applying for civil restraining orders on behalf of  victims of domestic abuse under Conn. Gen. Stat. § 42b-15.  Representation is done in a limited scope capacity under the Judicial Branch’s current family matters and family support magistrate matters pilot program.  This is a great opportunity to give back to the community with some pro bono work that packs a punch by helping those greatly in need with just a couple hours of commitment.

You Will Learn:

  • The law of Civil Restraining Orders in Connecticut
  • Considerations in representing victims of domestic Violence
  • The logistics of starting a pro bono program representing victims of domestic violence
  • About the View from the Bench
