In accordance with association policy and procedures, a special meeting of the House of Delegates will be held on July 21, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at the CBA law center to consider and act upon a request by the Human Rights and Responsibilities Section to file an amicus brief in the matter of Shew v. Malloy presently pending at the Second Circuit.

Relevant materials, including the brief of the Brady Center in the case at the trial court level can be found by following this link. The CBA took a position in favor of this kind of legislation in March of 2013. Click here to see the CBA's letter to the governor.

It is anticipated that the section, if approved, would become a signatory on the Brady Center's amicus brief on appeal, along with other interested parties.

All CBA members are welcome to attend the meeting or, in the alternative, to make their thoughts known on the issue to their district delegate. A complete list of districts and delegates can be found here.

Pursuant to association rules, this meeting is open to all CBA members. Seating may be limited.
