Construction Law Section Awards Scholarship to Students

Central Connecticut University students Alec M. Donna and Erin N. Murphy were recently presented with the Connecticut Bar Association Construction Law Scholarship.

 

Gifted by the CBA’s Construction Law Section, the scholarship provides support for students enrolled in the Construction Management or Civil Engineering Technology Degree Program. Donna and Murphy were selected to receive the scholarship based on recommendations from faculty.

 

A senior in the Construction Management Program at Central Connecticut State University, Donna was selected to receive the scholarship based on recommendations from faculty. He is a member of the university’s Construction Law Management Club as well as the Alpha Lambda Delta and Golden Key National Honor Societies. Donna is a graduate of the carpentry program at Oliver Wolcott Technical High School and is enlisted in the United States Air Force National Guard at the rank of Airman First Class. Having earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank and honor a member of the Boy Scouts can receive, Donna is also a member of scouting’s honor society known as the Order of the Arrow.

 

Murphy received her bachelor’s degree in sport and business management at Springfield College. She is currently an Assistant Estimator at Shawmut Design & Construction in North Haven, working on projects at Yale University, Fairfield University, Mount Holyoke College, and Choate Rosemary Hall. Prior to her role at Shawmut, Murphy was a carpenters’ apprentice for a historical restoration and preservation contractor in Stonington. She also has a small website design business for construction contractors and does architectural photography.
