About the Program
The history of alternative dispute resolution was driven on a desire to find quicker, cheaper, fairer, and often more private ways to resolve their disputes than traditional trials. As arbitration became more expensive and mediation, often utilized on the eve of trial, did not solve these initial goals, lawyers and their clients have adopted new variations of these traditional methods. The panel will discuss many of these resolution solutions, focusing on how to choose and effectively use them for your dispute.
You Will Learn
• Many of the creative flexible settlement and dispute resolution procedures that have developed over the past 20 years
• How to evaluate which ADR options may be best for your client and when to consider utilizing them.
• The growing technique of having your neutral serve as both an arbitrator and mediator in the same dispute (‘med-arb, arb-med, arb-med-arb”) and how to address the ethical and practical issues that might arise when attorneys and parties want to use a single neutral.

CLE Credit: 2.0 CT (General); 2.0 NY (Skills)
The Connecticut Bar Association/CT Bar Institute is an accredited provider of New York State CLE. This program qualifies for transitional and non-transitional CLE credits.
Attorneys seeking NY CLE credit who have been admitted to the New York State Bar for two years or less must attend the live seminar for skills or ethics credit, or a fully interactive videoconference. Diversity, Inclusion and Elimination of Bias CLE credits are only available as non-transitional credits.
