About the Program
This program will provide a primer and update on the current state and prospects of the Trump administration’s executive orders dealing with immigration generally and particular classes of immigrants specifically. The litigation surrounding the executive order will be discussed, including a review of any judgment on the subject from the Supreme Court. Executive orders pertaining to border and internal security will be discussed, with attention to their effects on asylum seekers and federal/state or federal/local cooperation. Finally, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program—and President Trump’s order ending the program—will be discussed, along with pathways for immigration relief outside of DACA for young immigrants and their families.

You Will Learn

  • About the current state of the law on DACA, the travel ban, and other border security and immigration enforcement measures undertaken by the Trump administration in a fast-moving legal landscape
  • Practical tips for use in their practice in representing individuals subject to the administration’s executive orders.

Who Should Attend
Immigration attorneys, especially those with clients who would be DACA recipients, asylum seekers, nationals from countries affected by the “travel ban,” and those currently (or imminently) subject to immigration proceedings, should attend. Civil rights practitioners would also find the program useful.
