About the Program:

The Essentials of Federal Practice introduces attorneys to the basics of federal practice. The panel consists of two experienced federal civil litigators who will provide practical guidance on how to navigate the federal judicial system and the Honorable Stefan R. Underhill who will offer his insights to give attendees a better understanding of the expectations of the federal bench. The program will enable Connecticut attorneys litigating in federal court to be more effective advocates on behalf of their clients.

Who Should Attend: 

Both new and experienced attorneys will benefit from this training.

You will learn:

  • Practice and procedure from complaint to discovery, including requirements of federal complaint, pre-answer responses to the complaint, answers and defenses, default judgement.
  • The local rules and motion practice, including summary judgment
  • The rules of discovery, including Rule 26(f) reports, initial disclosures, depositions, and joint trial management reports
