LEGISLATIVE SESSION
The new legislative session started this past Wednesday with a few new faces—many we have seen before and some who plan on this being their last session. Bills have started to be introduced, some with only concepts and others having been fully drafted. Issues include legalized marijuana, vaccinations, sports wagering, the cost of insulin, statute of limitations, and erasure of some criminal records.

CANNABIS LAW COMMITTEE DEBATE
On February 13, this committee will hold a panel with Rep. Josh Elliott and Rep. Vin Candelora discussing the proposed legislation on legalization of cannabis. These attorney legislators are on opposite sides of this discussion and will be leaders of the discussion that ensues in the general legislature. The subject affects many CBA members, whether its’ on the criminal justice perspective, being educated on the issues, or learning more for their present or future clients. The committee is taking on the responsibility of being educators to the CBA with no plans to take legislative positions.
