Written Monday, March 8, 2021

The Connecticut Bar Association (CBA) is proud to commemorate 2021National Women’s History Month by recognizing, spotlighting, and sharing the accomplishments of talented women in the law. The CBA is happy to recognize Megan L. Wade.

Attorney Wade currently practices law at Sexton & Company in the areas of criminal, civil, and child protection appeals. She regularly appears before the Connecticut Supreme and Appellate Courts.

Prior to working at Sexton & Company, she clerked for now-Chief Justice Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Supreme Court. She has served on the board of directors for Community Partners in Action and is volunteering for the Young Lawyers Section’s (YLS) Lawyers in the Classroom program, which teaches children to understand justice, the rule of law, and democratic institutions to help them engage in their communities.

Attorney Wade currently serves as the co-chair of the YLS Appellate Practice Committee, and as a member of the CBA Standing Committee on Professional Ethics, Criminal Justice Section, and Appellate Advocacy Section Executive Committee. Previously, she served as co-chair of the YLS Criminal Justice Committee.

In 2020, Attorney Wade initiated an effort to adopt a version of the American Bar Association’s Rules of Professional Conduct Rule 8.4 (7), which seeks to eliminate discrimination and harassment within the legal profession. She has served as an integral member of the CBA working group that has taken up that effort since June of 2020, and further developed the proposed rule change. The Rules Committee of the Superior Court approved the CBA proposed amended rule in February of 2021, a critical step in the advancement of this important and long-overdue effort.
