The morning and afternoon ceremonies began with welcome remarks and words of recognition provided by Chief Justice Robinson. He spoke about recent challenges facing the rule of law in the United States and noted that those being sworn in as attorneys have the responsibility to uphold, defend, and promote our laws and the execution of justice within the American legal system. Justice Robinson stated, “Each one of us has the ability and the responsibility to take the lead in support of the rule of law and to defend liberty and the pursuit of justice.”

Following the administration of the oath of attorney, CBA President Daniel J. Horgan provided welcoming remarks to the newly inducted attorneys at both ceremonies recognizing their great achievement. He cautioned the newly admitted attorneys to never forget the importance of ethics and honesty in their practice. “You may be tempted to bend the rules in your zealous representation of your clients, but always pause and think before you act, for you will be judged on your integrity and strength in character. Your words and behavior effect your reputation, your client’s reputation, and your employer’s reputation. Showing respect and being civil is a core element of our profession,” he stated.
