Ginny Kim will receive the Citizen of the Law Award at the CBA’s annual awards ceremony, Celebrate with the Stars, on Thursday, March 12.
Attorney Kim serves as deputy general counsel and chief compliance officer in the Office of the Connecticut State Treasurer. Attorney Kim joined the Treasurer’s Office in January 2022 after twenty-five years in the private sector. She provides advice and counsel to the Treasurer and staff on matters affecting the Office, supports legislative, contractual, and litigation matters, and oversees the agency’s compliance programs and investigations.
Before joining the Treasurer’s Office, Attorney Kim served as Vice President and Managing Counsel at RTX (formerly United Technologies Corporation). Over her twenty-two years as in-house counsel, she managed teams of legal and compliance professionals and acted as chief legal advisor to several of RTX’s major business units—including Pratt & Whitney, Sikorsky, Otis, Collins Aerospace, and the corporate headquarters. In these roles, she oversaw a broad range of legal, contractual, and compliance matters across highly regulated industries.
Attorney Kim began her career in private practice at Dewey Ballantine LLP and LeBoeuf, Lamb, Green & MacRae LLP, where she advised clients on corporate finance matters and completed numerous acquisition and divestiture transactions.
Attorney Kim is an active member of the Connecticut Bar Association and has served on several committees, most recently the Civic Education Committee. She is co-chair of the Center for Children’s Advocacy and serves on the boards of the Lawyer’s Collaborative for Diversity, The Connecticut Forum, the Connecticut Asian Pacific American Bar Association, and the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association. She is also a James W. Cooper Life Fellow of the Connecticut Bar Foundation.
The Citizen of the Law Award is presented to a judge, attorney, or paralegal who has made a significant contribution to a charitable or public service cause that does not involve professional legal skills, but provides inspiration and contributes to the needy, the good of society, the environment, or our way of life. These activities have been undertaken on a non-professional, charitable basis with little or no personal economic reward, and some personal sacrifice.
