Member Spotlight | Hon. Alvin W. Thompson

The Honorable Alvin. W. Thompson will receive the Henry J. Naruk Judiciary Award at the CBA’s annual awards celebration, Celebrate with the Stars, on Wednesday, April 29. Judge Thompson was appointed as a United States District Judge for the District of Connecticut by President Clinton in October of 1994. He served as chief judge from 2009 to 2013 and organized a visiting judges program under which federal judges helped dispose of trial-ready cases that could not be reached due to vacancies.

Judge Thompson has been active in the American Bar Association since the mid-1980s, where he was primarily involved in the Committee on Business and Corporate Litigation in the Section of Business Law. In his local community, he has been active in The First Church of Christ in Hartford and numerous other civic and professional organizations. Prior to his appointment to the bench, Judge Thompson spent his entire legal career at Robinson+Cole, where he ultimately rose to managing partner.

The Henry J. Naruk Judiciary Award is presented to members of the state and federal judiciary who have made substantial contributions to the administration of justice in Connecticut.
