CBA Hosts Over 1,000 Attendees at Annual Conference

Over 1,000 attorneys, judges, paralegals, and other legal professionals from throughout the state gathered on June 13 at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford for the 2016 Connecticut Legal Conference.
Featuring over 50 CLE seminars ranging on topics from the new Connecticut LLCs Act  to medical marijuana regulation to the future of the practice, the Connecticut Legal Conference was the place to learn, connect, and collaborate with the leaders in our legal community.

The CBA Annual Luncheon and Meeting included the presentation of Half-century Awards to nearly 30 members of the bar admitted in 1966 and recognized the Honorable F. Herbert Gruendel and the Honorable A. Susan Peck for taking trial referee status.

Connecticut Attorney General, George Jepsen was in attendance along with Connecticut Secretary of the State, Denise Merrill. City of Hartford Mayor, Luke Bronin offered welcoming remarks which was followed by addresses from Chief United States District Judge for the District of Connecticut, Janet C. Hall; Chief Justice Chase T. Rogers; and United States Senator Richard Blumenthal. Special guest speaker, American Bar Association President, Paulette Brown gave an address on the value of diversity and inclusion in the legal profession.

In addition, the 2016-2017 officers were installed and will begin their terms on July 1.

The President's Reception, sponsored by Cohen and Wolf PC, concluded the day's events with guests mingling and networking with friends and colleagues over cocktails, appetizers, and entertainment by swing band Eight to the Bar.
