On Thursday, September 28, the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA) hosted the fundraiser Helping Hands for Hawaii to support disaster assistance for those affected by the recent wildfires in Hawaii. The fundraiser, which was created as an initiative of CBA President Maggie Castinado, was hosted at Salute Restaurant in Hartford, where attendees gathered to show support and contribute to this important cause.

Over $2,300 was raised from donations, which will be divided evenly between Americares and Maui United Way. Several organizations showed their support by sponsoring the event, including Brown Paindiris & Soctt LLP, the Connecticut Asian Pacific American Bar Association, the Connecticut Bar Association, the CBA LGBT Section, the CBA Young Lawyers Section, the Connecticut Hispanic Bar Association, the Connecticut Italian American Bar Association, the George W. Crawford Black Bar Association, Immigration Translators & Interpreters, the New Haven County Bar Association, and the South Asian Bar Association of Connecticut.

“Thank you to everyone who has contributed these much-needed funds, which will provide important support to the people of Hawaii as they recover from the recent fires,” stated President Castinado. “I am proud that the Connecticut Bar Association is able to do our part in alleviating the damage that this natural disaster has had.”
