SUBMISSION GUIDELINES & POLICES
FOR SECTION AND COMMITTEE WEB PAGES

Adopted October 2000 - Updated June 2001

Free Homepages for CBA Sections and Committees

Each CBA section and committee (S&C) is entitled to a Web page on www.ctbar.org. These pages can include announcements, meeting notices, minutes, links, newsletters, surveys or questionnaires, and listserv information. All S&Cs that wish to develop their pages must appoint an Internet liaison to coordinate the content for their group. The liaison will work with their group and the CBA's Web master. The CBA's Web master will design the basic structure for the section or committee homepage. The liaison is solely responsible for providing content to the Web master in an acceptable format (see below) and for regularly monitoring the currency of the information. Contact amprincipato@ctbar.org to discuss your group's goals, adding value to content, and other issues related to publishing on the Internet.

The CBA does not charge S&Cs to develop and maintain their homepages. However, if a section or committee's Internet plans require custom programming or consulting, the section or committee will fund these activities. Any out of the ordinary requests must be approved by the CBA's executive director. Currently, S&C Web pages are in a members-only, password protected area.

Content review: Material submitted to CBA for publication by a section or committee must first receive approval of that section or committee's Internet liaison. In situations where a group has not appointed a liaison, the section or committee's chair is responsible for content approval.

Appropriate attribution/copyright clearance: Material taken from another source must credit the original author, whether quoted or abstracted. Contributors must obtain copyright clearance for such material before it can be placed on the CBA Web site. Authors also warrant that the material is their original work and does not infringe upon the rights of any person or organization.

Reviewing for currency: The section or committee liaison is responsible for regularly monitoring the currency of the information on their homepage. Material submitted to CBA generally remains on the site unless staff is instructed to remove or replace the content. Submit changes to amprincipato@ctbar.org, CBA's Web master.

Format: All submissions should be e-mailed to amprincipato@ctbar.org or sent on floppy disk, along with a hard copy, to:

Web Master
Connecticut Bar Association
30 Bank Street
PO Box 350
New Britain, CT 06050-0350
Material can be submitted in ASCII, Microsoft Word, PDF, or HTML formats. Hard copy without a floppy disk will not be accepted.

Articles should include a title. Include the author(s) name and date submitted below the title. Include a brief biography (in narrative form) at the end of the manuscript. In long documents, use subheads to break up the article into smaller, more digestible parts. Place subheads flush left. Lowercase all words except the first word of the subhead and proper nouns. Submit professional photographs, color or black and white, in a protective sleeve or folder. CBA will scan the photos. Submit accompanying art, tables, charts, graphs - in electronic form.

Forms or long documents: The Web master will use her discretion in determining whether to post a document on www.ctbar.org using Adobe Acrobat. A free Adobe Acrobat Reader is available on www.ctbar.org and allows visitors to view, navigate, and print PDFs across all major computer platforms. Adobe Acrobat may be used if any of the following conditions exists:
