The Connecticut Bar Association (CBA) is sponsoring the adult civic education class, “Your Government and You,” a four-week program beginning February 26 in North Haven.
The class is a part of the CBA’s adult civic education initiative, which provides an opportunity for adults to learn about civic issues from volunteer lawyers. This initiative seeks to address legal issues and current events that relate to every citizen. The volunteer lawyers will share their experience by discussing the basics of civics and how our government works in relation to these real-life legal scenarios. The CBA sponsors programs such as “Your Government and You” for adults in Connecticut to help enhance this initiative.
“Your Government and You” will engage the participants in discussions and group activities about real-life legal scenarios such as wiretapping, the death penalty, the right to die, and eminent domain with volunteer attorneys who will facilitate the two-hour workshop-type classes. The class will be taught by Attorney Jacqueline Costanza Fillmore on Tuesdays for four weeks from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in North Haven. CBA Members who are aware of someone who may be interested in attending this program should contact North Haven Adult Education at 203-239-1641.
