RETIRED JUDGE SALVATORE ARENA DIES

Salvatore F. Arena, senior judge for the Middletown Superior Court, died on Monday, July 4, at the age of 67. Arena, who was on the bench for twenty years, retired in 2002 after serving his last six years in Middletown. Before his appointment to the superior court in November 1985, Arena had his own practice for twenty-one years in Portland. He also served as an assistant prosecutor, a public defender and special public defender in the Middlesex judicial district.

Arena grew up in Portland and graduated from Brown University and Columbia University School of Law. He was admitted to the Connecticut bar in 1962.
