2006 Award Recipients
At this year’s CBA Annual Meeting on June 12, a number of distinguished professionals received awards in recognition of their work and their dedication to the law, the system of justice, and the legal profession.
A total of fourteen awards were given this year, including ten pro bono awards. The recipients of the pro bono awards not only exhibit commitment and dedication to pro bono service, but also serve as role models for the profession. This year’s recipients were Attorney Nathana Beth Cook, Attorney Pamela K. Elkow, Attorney Paul A. Garlinghouse, Attorney John F. Lambert, Attorney Sharon L. Pope and Paralegals Ruth Thompson, Sharon Colihan, Robert M. Flanagan, Deborah C. Manville, and Rebecca F. Ganci, awarded posthumously.
The Charles J. Parker Legal Services Award was presented to Gurdon "Don" H. Buck of Hartford for his deep and abiding interest in and dedication to the delivery of legal services to the disadvantaged in Connecticut.
The Henry J. Naruk Judiciary Award was presented to the Honorable Joseph H. Pellegrino, judge trial referee, for his substantial contributions to the administration of justice in Connecticut.
The John Eldred Shields Distinguished Professional Service Award was presented to Edward Maum Sheehy, past president of the CBA, for his outstanding service through or on behalf of the CBA, for the benefit of the legal community and the community at large.
Finally, to top off the day, the 2006 Distinguished Public Service Award was presented to broadcast journalist, interviewer, author, and Connecticut resident Faith Middleton for her contributions to society.
