Senate Joint Resolution No. 32, Resolution Proposing an Amendment to the State Constitution Concerning the Practices and Procedures of the Courts, is coming up for a rare second hearing in early April. At the January 8, 2007, CBA House of Delegates meeting, a resolution was unanimously adopted “that the CBA opposes any attempt by the legislature to eliminate, diminish or modify in any manner or to any extent the existing rule-making power presently in the Superior Court of the Judicial Branch and authorizes its leadership to act and speak in support of this Resolution." The CBA is opposed to Senate Joint Resolution No. 32, and Norm Janes is asking members to write letters to the editor of their local papers stating their opposition to this Resolution. To help you draft your message, we have included talking points on the subject and a CBA position statement that will be circulated to the media.
