NEW BRITAIN, CT (January 29, 2007) The Connecticut Bar Association (CBA) has announced the appointment of William L. Chapman as Government Relations Specialist.

Chapman comes to the CBA with over eighteen years of government relations experience with professional membership associations. Before joining the CBA, Chapman worked for the Connecticut Student Loan Foundation in Rocky Hill as Director of Government Relations, researching, monitoring, and drafting legislation to support testimony before legislative committees. In addition, Chapman worked for the New England Cable Television Association (NECTA) in Hartford as Director of Government & Regulatory Affairs for Connecticut and Rhode Island where he drafted legislation and orchestrated industry lobbying.

“Bill brings a diverse, extensive background in government relations in fields
involving complex issues, including the telecommunications and cable industry,” said Tim Hazen, CBA executive director. “His expansive lobbying and legislative background will be a great addition to our legislative team.”

As Government Relations Specialist, Chapman will lobby on behalf of the CBA
membership and its 31 sections, monitoring issues before the legislature to ensure that the best interests of the sections and the association are served.

Chapman holds a BA degree from Providence College and an MA degree from
Rhode Island College. Chapman and his wife, Beverly, live in Hebron, CT, with their two children, Michael and Lauren.
