The Awards Committee is now accepting nominations for the following awards, to be presented at the 2008 Annual Meeting on June 9, 2008 at the Connecticut Convention Center.
The Awards
Distinguished Public Service Award
The Distinguished Public Service Award is given to a Connecticut resident who has distinguished his or her self in their profession and made a significant contribution to society. This contribution should be in addition to or outside of the candidate’s area of endeavor. It is mandatory that the recipient attends the Annual Dinner of the Connecticut Bar Association to accept the award.
Henry J. Naruk Judiciary Award
The Henry J. Naruk Judiciary Award is given to a member of the Connecticut judiciary, of the federal or state court. The award epitomizes the recipient’s long-term, dedicated, conscientious service to the community in a judicial role. The award reflects the judge’s integrity, hard work, selfless approach and legal ability of the highest quality.
John Eldred Shields Professional Service Award
The John Eldred Shields Professional Service Award is given to a member of the Connecticut Bar Association that has performed outstanding service through or on behalf of the Connecticut Bar Association. This service will have benefited members of the Connecticut Bar Association, the legal profession or the community at large. This service should cover a period of years and not be a single or isolated activity.
Charles J. Parker Legal Services Award
The Charles J. Parker Legal Services Award is given to a member of the Connecticut Bar Association who has a deep and abiding interest in and dedication to the delivery of legal services to the disadvantaged in Connecticut. The recipient should have given selflessly of themselves in advancing the goal of providing legal services to all Connecticut residents. This service should cover a period of years and not be a single or isolated activity.
Edward F. Hennessey Professionalism Award
The Edward F. Hennessey Professionalism Award is given to a member of the Connecticut Bar Association who has demonstrated such integrity, character, competence, ethics, civility, and mentoring over the course of his or her career as to inspire greater professionalism among lawyers and pride in their profession and who has enhanced the public’s perception of the legal profession. The recipient must have practiced for at least twenty years.
