The Connecticut Bar Association’s Workers’ Compensation Section presented Douglas L. Drayton with the 2015 Pomernz-O’Brien Award, which is presented to a practitioner who has, over the course of a career, exhibited excellence in the practice of workers’ compensation law, and/or made outstanding and extraordinary contributions to the practice.
The Honorable John A. Mastropietro, Connecticut Workers' Compensation Commissioner, noted Attorney Drayton’s “willingness to participate in the many events/seminars, etc., over the course of years has been of invaluable benefit to those practicing in our chosen field. In particular, his willingness to assist young attorneys just starting their careers speaks volumes of [his] commitment to workers' compensation. His efforts have produced a more enlightened, passionate, and prepared bar as a result.”
Attorney Drayton is a past chair of the CBA Workers’ Compensation Section and served as secretary of the association’s then-Committee on Workers' Compensation that drafted appellate rules and regulations for the Connecticut Compensation Review Division. Attorney Drayton was also a founding member of the CBA Committee for Workers’ Compensation Specialization and the original chairman of the Workers’ Compensation Certification Examining Committee. He has lectured on workers' compensation law for many institutions, law schools, and organizations including various bar associations as well as has testified at legislative committee hearings on Connecticut workers' compensation law.
