The Connecticut Bar Association Young Lawyers Section (YLS) has created an online interactive guide to “green” office practices entitled The Green Guide: How to Adopt and Implement “Green” Office Practices.
The YLS has created the Guide both in recognition of the toll that the practice of law can take on the environment and to assist lawyers across the state in an effort to adopt sustainable business practices that will have a positive impact on the environment.
For some firms and businesses, this guide will serve as a starting point for discussion. Implementing just a few of these suggestions will have a positive impact. Other firms, businesses, and individual lawyers across the state may already go far beyond the measures suggested here and have already realized the benefits of “going green,” including financial savings, environmental preservation, and a marketable business model that appeals to a broad spectrum of potential clients.
An online search will reveal a virtually unlimited number of suggestions and resources for “going green.” The Young Lawyers Section hopes that this guide will serve as a more specifically tailored resource to those engaged in the practice of law in Connecticut, in key areas that may have the most positive impact on the environment.
The Guide targets three key categories to help attorneys begin their efforts to “go green:” green office practices, travel and commuting considerations, and suggestions for implementation.
