CBA Membership Categories

The Connecticut Bar Association provides several membership categories to serve the needs of all lawyers and legal professionals.


Member Attorneys
Members of the legal profession licensed to practice who either reside or practice in Connecticut. 


Out of State Members

Members of the legal profession in good standing who neither reside nor practice in the State of Connecticut.


Retired Members

Former active members who are designated as being in retired status by the Connecticut Supreme Court.  You must call Member Services to receive this designation.


Student Members

Any full time student in good standing enrolled in the College of Law at UCONN, Yale or Quinnipiac or who is a bona fide Connecticut resident attending an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited Law School in a state other than Connecticut is eligible to law student membership in the CBA. Select Student (JD).

For Paralegals, studying in CT or out of state in an accredited ABA program, select Student (Paralegal)

Government Employees

If you are a Federal, State, Municipal or Legal Services employee, select either Government Member Attorney, Government Member Attorney 75 Years or Older or Government Associate (non-attorney).


Judge

Connecticut state judges who have been recommended by the Judicial Selection Commission, nominated by the governor, and approved by the state legislature.
