About the Program

A moderated panel of employment and data privacy and security professionals will briefly present key legal developments impacting workplace privacy.  Then the panel will bring the issues to life with a workplace scenario to help employment lawyers and in-house counsel spot relevant risks and prepare best practices for dealing with them.

You Will Learn

  • Whether new consumer data privacy laws, like those in Connecticut and California, create obligations for employers.
  • Requirements under Connecticut’s new Clean Slate law.
  • Do’s and don’ts of background checks and social media searching and monitoring.
  • The impact of cannabis legalization on employee drug testing.
  • What’s permissible with respect to physical searches within the workplace.
  • Some best practices for preventing and responding to breaches of personal employee and customer information.

The Connecticut Bar Association/CT Bar Institute is an accredited provider of New York State CLE. This program qualifies for newly admitted and experienced attorneys CLE credits.

Attorneys seeking NY CLE credit who have been admitted to the New York State Bar for two years or less must attend the live seminar for skills or ethics credit, a fully interactive videoconference, or simultaneous transmission with synchronous interactivity. Diversity, Inclusion and Elimination of Bias CLE credits are only available as non-transitional credits.
