      The Connecticut Legal Conference (CLC) is the CBA’s preeminent event comprised of dozens of engaging CLE seminars covering a diverse range of topics in state and federal law. The day also includes an exhibitor showcase featuring a variety of companies and organizations and the CBA Annual Meeting and Luncheon, which features prestigious Connecticut-based and national speakers as well as the installation of the CBA executive committee officers for the approaching bar year.

      Meet our Featured National Speaker

      Erwin_Chemerinsky

      Erwin Chemerinsky is the dean and Jesse H. Choper Distinguished Professor of Law at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law. Prior to assuming this position, he was the founding dean of the University of California, Irvine, School of Law and a professor at Duke Law School, University of Southern California Law School, and DePaul Law School. He is the author of 21 books and over 200 law review articles. His most recent major book, Campus Speech and Academic Freedom: A Guide for Difficult Times, was published in January 2026. He frequently argues appellate cases, including in the United States Supreme Court. In 2022, he was the President of the Association of American Law Schools.

      Justice Steven D. Ecker was appointed to the Superior Court bench by Governor Dannel P. Malloy in 2014. He was sworn in as an associate justice of the Supreme Court on May 3, 2018. Justice Ecker began practicing law with the New Haven firm Jacobs Grudberg Belt & Dow, PC, where he worked from 1988 to 1994. Between 1994 and 2014, he practiced in Hartford with Cowdery Ecker & Murphy LLC. Justice Ecker’s private practice consisted primarily of civil litigation in trial and appellate courts, both state and federal. His cases covered a broad range of subject areas, including personal injury and business torts, constitutional law, professional ethics and discipline, family law, commercial law, and employment law. His clients included individuals, business entities, municipalities, public officials, and lawyers and law firms. 
      Wishnie_-Michael_WEB
      Michael J. Wishnie is the William O. Douglas Clinical Professor of Law at Yale Law School, where he has also served as counselor to the dean and deputy dean for experiential education. Professor Wishnie has taught in the Worker & Immigrant Rights Advocacy Clinic, Veterans Legal Services Clinic, and Peter Gruber Rule of Law Clinic. His teaching, scholarship, and practice have focused on immigration, labor and employment, veterans law, habeas corpus, civil rights, and voting rights. Previously, Professor Wishnie taught at NYU School of Law and worked at the ACLU Immigrants’ Rights Project, the Legal Aid Society in Brooklyn, NY, and as a law clerk to Judge H. Lee Sarokin of the U.S. District Court of New Jersey and the Third Circuit and Justices Harry A. Blackmun and Stephen G. Breyer of the Supreme Court.
