Presented by the Tax Section
About the Program
The presenters will give an overview of state and local responses to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), namely addressing the state tax deduction limitation and how states have proactively modified their tax laws to allow taxpayers to still benefit from a federal tax deduction. Taxpayers in Connecticut will be familiar with the pass-through entity tax, which will be addressed along with other states’ laws and the new Connecticut payroll tax proposal.
You Will Learn
- Potential tax planning opportunities to receive the benefit of a federal deduction for state taxes
- What states currently impose a tax not limited by the SALT tax and what states may soon implement such a tax
- IRS responses to state workarounds to the SALT limitation
