About the Program

This program will cover three distinct, but equally important topics in the field of professional responsibility.  First, Judge Manning and Atty. Sansone will provide an overview of some of the more significant revisions to the Rules of Professional Conduct, particularly Rule 8.4(7) that prohibits attorneys from engaging in harassment or discrimination of individuals, based upon their membership in one or more protected classes.  Second, Atty. Atkins will discuss recent changes in the regulation of: (1) remote and cross-border law practice; and (2) non-lawyer legal service providers.  Third, Atty. Yoder will speak on the cyber security and data privacy issues that are implicated when hackers work their mischief.

You Will Learn

Recent changes in the ethical standards of the legal profession, much of which is driven by the overarching objective of providing a more diverse, equitable and inclusive bar
Some of the recent decisions in the field of ethics, so as to avoid the pitfalls that gave rise to such disciplinary proceedings
Practical advice on how to respond when one’s information technology is threatened or corrupted
