Friday, October 20, 2023

10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Presented by the CBA Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Committee

About the Program

Dr. Livingston’s session will examine how all individuals can achieve racial equity in the workplace and society. Building on his PRESS model (i.e., Problem Awareness, Root Cause Analysis, Empathy, Strategy, Sacrifice), the session explores people’s perceptions of racism, in contrast to the reality of racism and why there is all too often a gap between perceptions and reality. We will also explore the concept of unconscious bias. What is it and how do we know that it exists? The session will investigate strategies that individuals, leaders, and organizations can adopt to move the needle on racial equity in a profound and sustainable way, as well as the barriers and reservations that prevent these strategies from being implemented. We will engage in discussion following the presentation.
