About the Program
The United States has two property systems that apply to married couples—separate property law and community property law. In today’s mobile society, estate planning practitioners in separate property states across the country encounter persons with community property without fully understanding what that means and how it affects tax and succession planning.
You Will Learn
- How to define and identify community property and the differences among the nine community property states
- How to apply the Uniform Disposition of Community Property Rights at Death Act (UDCPRDA)
- How to use the favorable community property tax treatment to your clients’ advantage
