About the Program

In this program attendees will learn about the historical development of Fourth Amendment search and seizure jurisprudence and the reasonable expectation of privacy doctrine first espoused in Katz v. United States. The program will next consider the watershed case of Carpenter v. United States, No. 16-402, 585 U.S. ____ (2018).  Finally, the program will consider, in light of Carpenter, the potential development of search and seizure analyses under the Fourth Amendment with regard to technological advances, such as cloud-based applications and data storage.
