About the Program

The Department of Justice has resolved to prevent elder abuse and financial fraud from occurring through its Elder Fraud Initiative.  Director Twomey will discuss the intersection of elder fraud and bankruptcy.  The presentation will include red flags, various types of scams (everything from gift cards to romance cons) and resources that are available for victims through the Department of Justice.  The Director will also review a number of examples the U.S. Trustee’s office has encountered where the victim was the debtor, and a few where the perpetrator of elder fraud was the debtor.
