Diane M. Sauer, Esq. is a solo practitioner in Manchester Connecticut. Her first SSI case was in 1979. In the 1980's, as the “Health and Welfare Task Force Coordinator” at Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance, she worked in all areas of public benefits, supervising and training, or arranging training, for paralegals and attorneys in the areas of public benefits, including SSI. When she moved to Connecticut in 1990 she continued to work in the area of public benefits and became the managing attorney at Connecticut Legal Services' Willimantic office. Since 1995 Attorney Sauer has been in private practice, limiting her practice to the area of Social Security Disability Law, both Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). She represents individuals at the administrative level as well as in the USDC and continues to enjoy speaking to and training attorneys and paralegals as well as talking to groups about Social Security issues.

Program Description:  Attendees can expect to learn about SSI asset and income laws and procedural rules and, in particular, about the effects of work on SSI benefits. Resource materials will be made available. Social Security’s regulations and rules on these matters are not only complex but they are different for the SSDI and SSI programs. This presentation will be limited to navigating the law in the SSI program.
