The CBA established the Lawyers in Libraries program to provide free volunteer legal services to members of the public in a community setting. The program allows members of the public to register for a 20-minute appointment at a nearby library and receive free legal advice in the areas of landlord/tenant, immigration, family, employment, consumer rights, and personal injury.
If you are a member of the public, to sign up to receive free, brief legal advice at a local library, you must register in advance with one of the libraries listed below. When it is time for your appointment, you should bring all paperwork related to your matter. At the library, you will be required to sign a consent form about the limited services provided.
If you are an attorney who wants to provide pro bono services through the Lawyers in Libraries program, email FreeLegalAdviceClinic@ctbar.org. The CBA provides professional liability insurance for legal advice provided during a Lawyers in Libraries event.
