The Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act Outreach from the USAO on RLUIPA

Program Description
The speakers will address the rights of religious communities to build or expand places of worship and other buildings for religious use and the rights of prisoners to exercise their religion while in prison (and other people in institutions, like persons with mental health problems)

Speaker
Attorney Carolyn Ikari
DOJ—Civil Rights Division

Attorney Ikari has been an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Civil Division for 23 years. Her practice focuses on trials of employment matters in which she represents various federal agencies, such as the Departments of Labor, Treasury, Veterans Affairs, and the U.S Postal Service. Attorney Ikari also litigates a wide variety of civil matters, including immigration, tax, Freedom of Information, military records, and Medicare.  She is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Virginia School of Law.
