Land Use and Economic Development in Connecticut - What can we learn from Amazon HQ 2

Speakers

Timothy Hollister, Shipman & Goodwin LLP
David Kooris, Deputy Commissioner, CT Department of Economic and Community Development
Hiram Peck, Town Planner, Avon, CT

Program Description

The panel will discuss the current entitlement process in Connecticut, its impact on economic development, and novel approaches to make Connecticut competitive when bidding for new, and retaining existing, businesses. The panel will be led by Attorney Hollister who will discuss what we can learn from the Amazon HQ2 bid process and dive into the current role of land use law from the state and local levels of governance. The seminar will focus on Connecticut’s current state of economy and there will be an opportunity to learn more about the new administration’s plan to draw new and retain existing businesses, as well as provide suggestions on how Land Use law can affect those efforts.

Herd Restaurant is owned and operated by our CBA President Jon Shapiro and his family. They are graciously hosting our section and devoting the dining room to our group. We look forward to supporting their venture as well!
