About the Program

Hot Topics in Probate is the popular biennial seminar sponsored by the Probate Assembly and the CBA Estates and Probate and Elder Law Sections. This year’s seminar, presented by probate judges and attorneys, will focus on the Connecticut Uniform Trust Code, which will become law on January 1, 2020, eFiling in the Probate Courts, and Connecticut Standards of Practice for Conservators.

The morning agenda will be dedicated to the following topics under the Connecticut Uniform Trust Code:  

Overview/Orientation and Basics, presented by Suzanne Brown Walsh; Notice and Remedies, presented by the Honorable Frank J. Forgione and Molly M. Ackerly; Modification of Trusts, presented by the Honorable Domenick N. Calabrese and Deborah Tedford; and lastly, Jurisdiction and Contested Matters, presented by Paul J. Knierim, Kelley Galica Peck, and John R. Ivimey.

The afternoon session will include an overview of eFiling in the Probate Courts, presented by Heather L. Dostaler.

The final session of the seminar will focus on ethics as related to the Connecticut Standards of Practice for Conservators, presented by the Honorable Jeannine M. Lewis and Sandra Sherlock White.
