Program Description

Robyn E. Gallagher, a litigator at Wiggin and Dana and formerly a senior accountant at Kosovsky, Pratesi & Company, will help lawyers get up to speed on basic accounting concepts that come up in legal practice.

This session will cover:

  • The Basics of Accounting
  • How to read the balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows, and notes  the financial statements
  • How to recognize/read general ledgers and trial balances
  • Tax Accounting vs Book Accounting
  • Special Issues Relating to Franchise Revenues
  • Accounting in Litigation
       -Using Financial Experts
       -How to recognize when something has been modified after the fact
        (i.e.,   errors that shouldn’t be there, balance sheets that don’t balance, etc.)
