Speaker Bios

Professor Jon Bauer is the director at the UConn Law School’s Asylum and Human Rights Clinic, a program in which law students, supervised by Clinic faculty, represent refugees who have fled persecution and are seeking asylum in the United States.

Denia Perez is a Policy Advisor focused on immigrant access to justice in the NYC Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs.

Program Description

A discussion between Professor Jon Bauer of the UConn Law School's Asylum and Human Rights Clinic and Attorney Denia Perez, a policy advisor at the New York City Mayor's office of Immigrant Affairs on the current state of and challenges with the legal system and policies surrounding LGBTI asylum claims.
