Malpractice and Grievance Risk Management for Small Firm Lawyers

Speaker

David P. Atkins
Pullman & Comley LLC

Program Description

For small firm practitioners the most common causes of grievance complaints or malpractice complaints are often preventable mistakes in client communication or failing to appreciate basic obligations under the rules governing conflicts of interest and protecting client confidences. This interactive program will address some of the pitfalls that typically ensnare busy lawyers simultaneously managing their own practices and their clients’ expectations.  The presentation will include some best practices tips to managing risks while practicing law remotely.

  • Conflicts:  Prior Representation
  • Candor to the Court:  Dealing With Client or Witness Perjury
  • Remote Lawyering:  Safeguarding Client Information and Managing Risks
  • Minimizing Risks in an Economic Downturn
  • Minimizing Risks in Collecting the Fee
  • Responding to Negative Online Reviews
