Child Welfare and “The Link”:
Identifying Risks and Service Needs for Families

Speaker

Gabriela Sandoval
Gabriela began practicing law in Colorado in 2004. She worked for non-profits, government agencies, private law firms, and also had her own practice for ten years.  During that time, she had a state contract with Colorado's Office of the Child's Representative, representing the best interests of children in Denver's dedicated Juvenile Court. She was a founding member of a multi-disciplinary law firm and a winner of Colorado's RFP process where she was able to continue serving children in child welfare cases. She also served families in highly contentious domestic relations matters in the District Courts as a court appointed Child and Family Investigator. She became a Board Certified Child Welfare Law Specialist, certified by the National Association of Counsel for Children, in 2012. Gabriela currently serves unaccompanied children who are detained in US Immigration custody, as a Detained Children's Staff Attorney at the Connecticut Institute for Refugees and Immigrants (CIRI). She is currently taking CT's mandatory training for AMCs and GALs.
