About the Program

The Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Summit: The Collaborative Blueprint is an innovative and collaborative professional development experience designed to empower leaders in the legal profession to take action toward making Connecticut a more diverse and inclusive bench and bar. Through interactive workshops and discussions, you will gain knowledge and learn strategies to help create a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment in your organization and in the State of Connecticut.

You Will Learn

  • About the collaborative diversity pledge/plan and its goals
  • Strategies for increasing retention in your firm
  • About the underpinnings of systemic racism as well as approaches for redressing it

Who Should Attend

This summit is open to all members of the Connecticut legal community.

Signatory Data Collection Overview (CDC211020-01)


Attendees will be reintroduced to the goals of the collaborative pledge/plan, see results from data collection among the signatories, and receive a summary of the path to successful retention initiatives. 

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. EDT
Interactive Retention Workshop (CDC211020-02)


This interactive workshop will cover different strategies for increasing retention in your firm. Attendees will reflect on and evaluate their organizational procedures, policies, and practices and modify them as necessary to work towards retention of diverse individuals.

Increasing Understanding and Progress toward Racial Equity (CDC211020-03)


This session will examine a process for achieving racial equity in organizations and society, using the PRESS model (i.e., Problem Awareness, Root Cause Analysis, Empathy, Strategy, Sacrifice).

The Connecticut Bar Association/CT Bar Institute is an accredited provider of New York State CLE. This program qualifies for non-transitional CLE credits. 

Attorneys seeking NY CLE credit who have been admitted to the New York State Bar for two years or less must attend the live seminar for skills or ethics credit, or a fully interactive videoconference. Diversity, Inclusion and Elimination of Bias CLE credits are only available as non-transitional credits.
