Solutions in Your Backyard: Community Foundations and
Charitable Gift Administration

Speakers

Sharon Cappetta, CAP® - Director of Development, The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven
Joseph Collin, CAP® - Vice President, Philanthropy, Fairfield County’s Community Foundation

Program Description

It has been said that in the end, all clients have three choices for their assets: Heirs, charity, and the government. Since 1914, the community foundation field has partnered with estate and probate professionals to administer charitable gifts, centering donor intent in perpetuity, in support of communities. The program will include general information about community foundations and how they can be used by practitioners to assist clients in estate planning and wealth transfer matters. Topics covered will include charitable bequests, gifts of non-cash assets, private foundation conversions, beneficiary designations and life-income gifts. Program will also cover provisions in the SECURE Act pertaining to qualified charitable distributions from retirement assets.
