New Court Technology and What’s Next

Speaker

The Honorable Barbara N. Bellis

Moderators

Program Description

Curious how the Judicial Branch plans to navigate the Rise of the Machines?

Join us for a conversation with the Honorable Barbara N. Bellis, Chief Administrative Judge of Civil Matters.

Judge Bellis has dedicated enormous thought and effort to building and honing the courts' e-filing and electronic case management systems, as well as ways to leverage pandemic-inspired technology to shape a more accessible court system. We will explore future projects the Branch has in store, shifting judicial and juror attitudes on trial technology, tips to polish and perfect your presentation to remove barriers between you and your audience, and even a few under-utilized judicial tech options attorneys may not know.

In the business portion of the meeting, we have (1) a legislative proposal to regulate third-party litigation funding; (2) a request from the Labor & Employment Section to fund a joint CLE with some SCOTUS heavy-hitters; (3) volunteer opportunities in mock trial and debate; and (4) a couple new member initiatives to discuss.
