Program Description
Join us for this nuts and bolts, practical program focusing on our current process of creating judges. We will hear from the operations manager of the Connecticut Judicial Selection Commission, the Chair of the Connecticut Judicial Selection Commission, and a member of the committee that Connecticut’s US Senators use to screen and vet candidates for federal judgeships. Whether we have any ambitions in that direction notwithstanding, these decisions impact the practice of law in the most fundamental ways. From what form to fill out, to who is being asked to give opinions, to timeframes and decision points, how does it happen? And these volunteers who serve in these unsung and uncompensated roles, is there a lesson about volunteering in there for all of us? There will be time for relevant questions at the end.
